Hi!
I'm Julia
I’m founder of Northern Moon. I fell in love with photography when I was twelve, using my mom’s old camera to do backyard photoshoots with friends.

Years later, I earned my Bachelor’s in Photography from OCAD University in Toronto. After graduating, I moved to Vancouver for the mountains and the ocean and worked as the photographer for the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation.

In 2021, I photographed a wedding by chance and instantly knew this was what I was meant to do. I launched Northern Moon, and 2026 will mark my fifth wedding season.

I have poured so much time and energy into perfecting my craft, growing my team, and investing in the best gear possible.

My Life Through Photos...

My own love story
Nicolas and I met 5 years ago in Toronto, and after a bit of a whirlwind romance, we ended up in Vancouver. He has been the most supportive person as I started this business, always cheering me on behind the scenes.

We have also been in front of the camera a few times ourselves, and that really helped me understand what it feels like. A little vulnerable, a little awkward at first, but also really special.

My Approach
Authentic & Relaxed
Having a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I understand how deeply special and unique each day is. It is often one of the only times when all the people you love are together in one place. While I love creating beautiful portraits for you to hang on your walls, I place just as much importance on capturing the meaningful candid moments shared between you and your loved ones.

My goal is to photograph your day as authentically as possible, in a way that feels both elevated and natural. I will gently guide you when needed while allowing you to stay fully present. For most of the day, I will be in the background, quietly documenting the moments as they unfold.

My photography style is a mix of candid storytelling and natural posing. I use the elements around you like the wind, light, and landscape to enhance the atmosphere and emotion of each image. When it comes to portraits, I gravitate toward a relaxed approach. I will give you gentle prompts that encourage movement, connection, and real laughter.
